He was covered in love and peace and did not walk off the park alone. Our souls are joined for eternity, Streaky. Till I hold you again,” Nadine Streak wrote on Facebook.

Heath Streak was suffering from Cancer

Streak had been battling with cancer for a long time. He breathed his last at his farm in Matabeleland, surrounded by his family and loved ones. His wife, Nadine, took to social media to write a heartfelt message in memory of her husband.

Heath Streak: A legend of Zimbabwe Cricket

Streak was a star cricketer for Zimbabwe between 1993 and 2005. He played 65 Tests and 189 ODIs for his country, claiming more than 450 international wickets³. Known for his impressive all-round skills as a fast-medium bowler and a competent lower-order batsman, Streak was the first Zimbabwean bowler to take 100 wickets in ODIs.

He was also the first cricketer from his country to reach 100 wickets in both Test and ODI formats. After retiring as a player, Streak took up coaching and was involved with various teams and franchises. He worked as a bowling coach for Bangladesh’s national cricket team and later took up the role of head coach for the team.

However, his coaching career took an unfortunate turn when he was banned from all cricket-related activities for eight years in 2021 by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his involvement in corrupt practices.

Despite the controversies, Streak’s contribution to Zimbabwean cricket is undeniable. He is remembered as one of the country’s greatest cricketers who made significant contributions both as a player and a coach. His passing is a great loss to the world of cricket.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
